Education in personalised nutrition for cancer care

On the morning of 7 September the students and the professors will visit the school in Zagreb.
NourishWell is an international Erasmus+ project that brings together gastronomy, nutrition, healthcare, and vocational education to help future chefs and hospitality professionals better understand the needs of people undergoing cancer treatment. The project develops practical knowledge on personalised nutrition, adapting recipes, textures, flavours, and food formats, as well as sustainable approaches that can respond to changes in appetite, taste, and digestion during treatment.
The project partners include the Institute for Gastroenterological Tumours (IGET) as coordinator, Fundació Alícia, the Food Technology School in Zagreb, and the Vancho Pitosheski Hospitality and Tourism School from North Macedonia. Through theoretical and practical learning, cooking activities, digital resources, and co-creation, NourishWell connects scientific knowledge with concrete gastronomic solutions that can be applied in practice.
The project’s final meeting will take place on 7 September 2026, from 2 to 5 pm, at the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health in Zagreb. The event will present the experiences and perspectives of project partners, students, and teachers, and will conclude with a discussion on the sustainability and future use of the project results.

About the project
NourishWell is an international project that brings together experts in clinical oncology, nutrition science, culinary arts, and vocational education to strengthen education on personalised nutrition for cancer patients and survivors.
Curriculum
The NourishWell curriculum is designed as a modular, blended learning programme, combining online education with practical, hands-on experience. It focuses on the development of both professional and transversal skills needed in oncology nutrition.
